Bikers Against Breast Cancer

The Southern Cruisers Riding Club of Eastern, PA, has hosted a Bikers Against Breast Cancer event since 2002, and each year since, with the goal of increasing their contribution to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. To date, BABC contributions have totaled more than $60,000!

The BABC event is a motorcycle "Poker Run", followed by live entertainment and a picnic lunch for all to enjoy. The "Poker Run" is typically a 60-mile route through the beautiful Lehigh Valley countryside, that allows the bikers to enjoy a nice easy-paced ride. The "poker" part involves five check points along the route--start, end and three stops along the way--where each participant draws a playing card. The person with the best 5-card poker hand wins the first prize, which is typically $100 and a special gift.

The goal of the event each year is to reach into the local community for support of the breast cancer cause. BABC publishes an Event Book for each event that allows local businesses an opportunity to run an advertisement that will be seen by all BABC attendees. This has proven to be a very successful fundraiser for the event. Some attendees do their own fundraising through family and friends to provide additional contributions.

The Breast Cancer Research Foundation is very grateful to be the beneficiary of these special events, and applauds the loyal commitment of the Southern Cruisers Riding Club in helping to support our work.
