Flemington, NJ Group hold first Bunco For Breast Cancer event at Moose Lodge
On Thursday, October 26, 2006, six women from a local Bunco group held their first Bunco for Breast Cancer benefit at the Flemington Moose Lodge in New Jersey.
For one third of the sixty-four women and one man attending it was their first time to play this fun and easy dice game. Squeals of excitement were heard as buncos were rolled and player's points added up.
In the end, four lucky women won Bunco's top game prizes. We want to thank our event volunteers and especially the area merchants for generously donating the wonderful gifts that were raffled off. The winners went home with jewelry, dinner gift certificates, spa services, and more.
Lisa McKeown and her team- MC Hart, Katie Bush, Carolyn Moore, Monika Szmul, Susan Fellin and Gillian Shaikh--worked very hard to bring this first time event to the area and hope to make it an annual fundraiser. $3,065 was raised donated to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation!
About Lisa:
Lisa McKeown loves to plan and organize activities and for a long time has wanted to do something with breast cancer. She is not personally affected by breast cancer but knows it is one disease that we all need to help eradicate. She has also played Bunco for several years and enjoys the game and camaraderie of the women. When she came across some information from the Bunco for Breast Cancer fundraising organization, she knew this was the way for her to combine her two interests.
She got together with her friends and they began to organize their first Bunco for Breast Cancer event for October 2006. They decided to include a raffle for the generous donations from local merchants, prizes during the game, and of course prizes for the game winners.
Lisa and her team were unanimous in their decision to donate their event proceeds to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation.
