The Portland, OR Bunco For Breast Cancer Group has already held two events in quick succession!
In October 2007, Cris Gwynn, her family and her friends held their first BFBC party to benefit BCRF.
When they initially began to orgranize the first event in October, Cris and her team run into the somewhat strict "gaming" laws in Oregon. They ended up having to scrap their initial plans and totally revamp--which could have been an event killer but instead was quite an adventure. They persevered and the October event ended up collecting $2,200 in cash and donated prizes and services.
The February 2008 event drew many people who were totally new to Bunco For Breast Cancer, and was part of the Seaside Sisters 3-day event held at the Civic and Convention Center in Seaside, OR.
Cris and her family have ties to several women's cancers and when they decided to hold an event for community/charity support, breast cancer was a natural choice. They felt that research was where the money was needed.
The Portland Group is now busy planning a third BFBC tournament, probably in August 2008.
