Rowenta

Response provided by Jennifer Gear, Cogent Public Relations for Rowenta

Q. Tell us about Rowenta.

A. Founded in Germany in 1884, Rowenta has a long history of innovation. In 1912, we manufactured our first iron, paving the way for the position today as the world's largest producer of irons. In 1949, we launched the first iron with a temperature control and thermostat, followed by the first steam iron in 1957, an innovation that would change garment care forever. What is true about our history, regardless of the decade, is that technology and innovation have always been at the forefront of product design. Rowenta manufacturers the best, most technologically advanced irons.

Q. What is Rowenta's purpose in creating a breast cancer cause-related marketing program?

A. Throughout its history, Rowenta has played an active and responsible role in community efforts to safeguard the environment and contribute to the quality of life of consumers and respecting the interests of individuals and civil society. Rowenta is proud to partner with BCRF and contribute to an effort that is making a difference in lives worldwide.

Q. Why are Rowenta's pink products a good match for breast cancer?

A. The Rowenta consumer is in the same age demographic as breast cancer victims; 84% of our consumers are female with an average of 57 years old.

Q. What are Rowenta's goals for the BCRF campaign?

A. In an effort to eliminate this devastating disease, Rowenta has joined efforts with BCRF to create a special "Iron for Pink" fund raising program. Rowenta is donating 100% of profits from this specially designed iron to aid BCRF, and hopes to also generate awareness with consumers.

Q. Why is breast cancer research important to Rowenta?

A. Breast Cancer is something that most women have been touched by in one way or another. It is the second leading cause of death among U.S. women. Rowenta's partnership with BCRF is a small but vital step toward extending the hopes of today's breast cancer patients and protecting the lives of tomorrow.

Q. Why did Rowenta choose The Breast Cancer Foundation rather than another breast cancer charity?

A. The mission of The BCRF is to save lives by achieving prevention and a cure for breast cancer in our lifetime. BCRF has received the highest ranking of four stars from the independent Charity Navigator, which evaluates over 5,000 charities; and voted one of Money magazine's top 8 U.S. charities. Rowenta is proud to have the opportunity to partner with such a noble organization.
