The Pink Agenda and Giuliana Rancic Join Forces to Help Survivors Feel Fabulous

By BCRF | September 10, 2014

FAB-U-WISH™ aims to improve the lives of women during breast cancer journey

Here at BCRF, we work closely with The Pink Agenda, a group of young professionals determined to fund research and improve the odds of those diagnosed with breast cancer. We are proud to announce that the nonprofit recently joined forces with E! News anchor and breast cancer survivor Giuliana Rancic and her philanthropic initiative, FAB-U-WISH™.

The Pink Agenda and FAB-U-WISH™ will team up to grant personal wishes of glitz and glamour to women battling breast cancer. When Rancic was treated for breast cancer in 2011, she found that pampering herself helped maintain her self-confidence and keep her spirits up during treatment.

As a popular TV personality, Rancic had exclusive access to her devoted “glam squad,” a hair, makeup and styling team committed to ensuring she looked and felt good, especially during treatment. After undergoing a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery, she realized that feeling beautiful and feminine played a critical role in staying optimistic during her journey. Rancic never took her special privileges for granted and, after recovering, looked to share those same benefits with women across the nation.

“When I was battling breast cancer, I found that sometimes the smallest things—having my hair and makeup done, putting on a beautiful outfit, being treated like a princess—often had a huge impact on how I felt,” Rancic said. “Even when the disease seemed like it might get the best of me, getting the ‘Hollywood treatment’ made such a difference. My goal with the Fab-U-Wish and Pink Agenda partnership is to do the exactly the same for other survivors: helping women feel beautiful—and feel better—during their most difficult times.”

Women who are currently or have undergone treatment in the past year for breast cancer are welcome to dream of what would make them feel fabulous and apply here for their wish to be granted. Friends and family can also nominate a loved one.

“The Pink Agenda believes that engaging today’s generation can go a long way toward finding tomorrow’s cure to breast cancer,” said Lucretia Gilbert, BCRF’s Chief Development Officer and Executive Director of The Pink Agenda. “This new partnership embodies that belief. Together, with Giuliana and the passion of the next generation of leaders, we will grant wishes, improve lives and, most importantly, find a cure.”
