The inauguration of Dr. Sawyers follows the election in December 2011 of Dr. Clifford Hudis, BCRF Scientific Advisory Committee Chairman, as President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO), the world's leading professional organization representing physicians who care for people with cancer. Dr. Hudis will be inaugurated as President-Elect of ASCO at the organization's Annual Meeting in June 2012. He is the sixth BCRF-affiliated researcher to lead ASCO since 2001. He follows Drs. Larry Norton (2001-2002), Gabriel Hortobagyi (2006-2007), Nancy Davidson (2007-2008), Richard Schilsky (2008-2009), and George Sledge, Jr. (2010-2011). Fellow BCRF grantees, Drs. Daniel F. Hayes and Kathy Miller, have also been elected to serve respectively on ASCO's Board of Directors and the Society's Nominating Committee.
